Malia's smile:)

Honestly, what else am I supposed to post about?

When you get to hang out with the cutest little peanut all day, what else do you do but take a billion pictures? Oh well, for me it's fun to see her over and over again, for you reading out there, it might seem redundant:) This is Malia Joy and currently she is 6 1/2 weeks old. She is cooing and talking and singing all the time and loves to smile. She has added to her fat rolls on her thighs and we certainly love them. Her eyes are still very blue and yes, she is fair. Not a whole lot like mommy but that's okay that everyone says, "she looks just like dad!," because I agree with all of them.
Her grandma and grandpa Schilling who just recently became GREAT grandparents! Can you believe it?! They look young enough to be having their own kids still;) BTW, this is a great angle of Malia's receding hairline. Note the long locks on the back of the head. Yup, that's my girl with her unusual hairstyles!

I will admit that I have been getting in touch with my inner 10-year old girl side by dressing Malia up, taking her picture and then changing her into another outfit. It's quite hilarious actually. When I get done with work for the day, it's my play time to dress her up. I really enjoy it and am glad she doesn't talk back yet about the outfits I put her in;
Here is Nana with Malia. Hurry home from Utah grandma! I miss you and want to show off all my cool new tricks!
More aunties! These are my mom's old friends from High School that she still gets to hang out with! Auntie Phyl, Rene and Janice. Thanks Aunties for all your love and really sweet gifts!
"Hm, what do I think about this outfit? I feel like it washes my skin out too much."
Gosh my mom wears me out with all of her outfit changes, excursions out to visit friends, go to the office and work and taking me around everywhere she goes. I'm pooped and that's it for now. Bye!

Beach Baby!

My little peanut found out that she loves the beach! That makes her parents happy since they sure do love the beach too.
I had the wonderful opportunity to watch these two hang out and talk to each for most of the day. Malia is in love with Kirk and follows him (with her eyes right now) wherever he goes. I don't think dad could love her any more than he does!

And the perfect beach day includes a nice nap under an umbrella with the nice breeze and sound of the waves crashing. The end.

We've got a sling baby!

Maybe it's just a phase, but Malia is loving being held or put in a carrier or a sling or swaddled. It's like she doesn't want to be left alone. Like today I couldn't put her down without her waking up or fussing. My girlfriend Lindsay said that sometimes this happens inexplicably at around 6 weeks. Well, Malia is 5 1/2 weeks right now and so maybe that's it.
It's okay, I love my balding beauty:) She sure does make me happy!

Gisele and Malia= BFF's

I love these girls. One day they are going to look back on this picture and laugh! Malia will say, "Man, what's up with my balding receding hairline?!" Gisele will say, "Yeah, and boy was I chubby!"
They like each other and we are happy about that:)

A Sneak Peak of Julie's photoshoot...

***These were taken by me with my lousy camera. Stay tuned for Julie's amazing and talented shots. They blow mine out of the water!
Oh, and Malia is exactly 4weeks old today! She'll be a month old on Monday!

What's up with Malia lately

This is Malia with her awesome Auntie Britt! Brittany was the first one to see her come out! A big thank you for taking her birthday pictures coming into the world! We love you!
We are FINALLY getting back to reality with our social life! Whew! I was getting serious baby blues being cooped up and deprived of my friends and social life! I think aside from the recovery period, that has been the hardest adjustment- having to stay at home and be committed all the time! It is so nice to get out and do things and have awesome friends to do them with! We had a fun BBQ at our place with some of our besties- it was great!
Oh yeah, our daughter is getting cuter by the minute:) We can't get enough of her!! I sit and stare at her and marvel at how much she is already learning! She knows our voice, follows our faces, smiles (maybe by accident or because of gas) and makes the sweetest noises. The other day while we were walking to the store with her in my sling she was chirping like a bird, yeah, chirping- it was the sweetest thing I have ever heard!
Here is chubby girl! She is packing on the fat rolls and weight! I KNOW she is heavier than when she was born. I love kissing those chubby cheeks- like all day long!
Meet Gisele! This is Malia's best friend! These two girls are exactly 7 weeks apart and are going to be instant buddies! Their moms are best friends and we have already decided they are going to be college roommates one day!
Oh my goodness this baby is my WORLD!
Napping with Dad- they are best buddies too:)
Sami and Dave and the kiddies came down to visit Malia! We love them!!! Sami let me slip away for a facial while she watched her new niece. Bentley and Kamryn had fun with their new cousin.
Family picture with Malia at 3 weeks old
We found out we were pregnant with Malia right when Kamryn was born. They are almost exactly 9 months apart. Can you imagine what life would be like with 2 of these munchkins?! Kirk would have a heart attack.
Cousins! They are going to LOVE playing with each other as they get older. If only they lived down the street from us.. Maybe one day.
Bentley is so sweet with the baby. They loved playing with each other and Malia sure loved the new company. She told me that she sometimes gets sick of hanging out with me all day and likes new faces.
Again, I might eat her up! I can't stand it!
Hi! I'm a happy baby:)
And then we had our first dinner out with the whole family! My parents were there and we enjoyed a yummy evening at Fratellos. Cold stone afterwards finished the night very nicely.
So that's our life in a nutshell. We are loving being new parents. For the most part we have adjusted to this new phase in life.
While in Cold Stone tonight this group of moms with a bunch of kids came in and the kids were screaming and whining and making so much noise. We all looked at each other and couldn't help but laugh! We are okay with Malia crying sometimes, but I am not ready for the loud screaming and whining! It's amazing how you are just ready for the phase in life that you are supposed to be in. One day we will have screaming tots and think, "man, I couldn't imagine having a crying newborn!" Funny how that works, huh?

Malia's week of firsts!!

While Malia agrees that "modest is hottest," she wanted to try out her first bikini! And she looked fabulous in it!
It may be a tad on the big side, but she had fun shedding some extra layers to go hit the beach!
Malia's first day at the beach! And it was down at Riviera of course because that is mom and dad's favorite beach! Kirk proposed to me there which is how this whole thing started in the first place:) Now we have a cute baby to show for us falling in love!
Malia enjoyed the fresh air, the sound of crashing waves, and just being out of the house! She didn't get to show off her pink bikini much and mostly slept in the shade. She had a good time though and wants to go again real soon!
She started taking a pacifier this week which was very exciting! Now instead of mom needing to be there to soothe a fussy baby, Kirk can do it! She loves her paci! Also worth noting is Malia will take a bottle now! Grandma and dad can feed her instead of me all the time! Yeah!
This was also MY first time down to the beach since we had the baby! (And first time in a bathing suit too!) Man was it NICE getting out and going somewhere that I really enjoy! So glad the sun came out for the day considering it has been the world's coldest and gloomiest summers in all of San Clemente history!! A big thank you to Kirk who helped lug all of our stuff down to the beach. Traveling with 3 has become increasing more difficult!
Malia started her tummy time and seems to be really enjoying it! I waited for her umbilical cord to fall off because I was paranoid about it rubbing and hurting her, and now she does great! Her cord fell off exactly 2 weeks after she was born- almost to the hour! So exciting! I saved it but I'm pretty sure that is gross and Kirk will throw it away sometime when I am not around.
The proud parents' first date night without the baby!!! Ahhh!! Of course going out without the baby offers complete peace of mind when you leave her with Grandma. I don't know anyone in the world who is a better babysitter! Shoot, she's probably better off with Grandma Freda than us anyway! We're still learning and grandma is a pro! I packed her a big bottle and we went out to Wahoo's and to see Inception. It was a great night although I was looking at my phone every few minutes to see if there was a problem.. I'll get over the paranoia soon I hope;)
This was Malia's first nap in her crib! She loved it! And she LOVED the Australian Koala that her uncle Elder Weber sent her from his mission, as well as the musical Giraffe that her wonderful Auntie Wendy gave her.
She usually sleeps in her bassinette next to our bed in our room which is where she will probably be for a while. She gets up every 2-4 hours each night to eat so it's just easier! Sometimes, I spoil her and let her co-sleep with me (yeah, it's probably going to damage her for life;) but I love it!!
HER FIRST BATH!!! Yeah! That was so fun for her! She LOVES the water and loves just relaxing and kicking back! Grandma was there to help since it's so much easier when you have a 2 person team washing. Malia prefers it rather warm, none of this luke warm water business. I don't blame her! We like it hot in this family:)
She could just hang out in the water for hours. She loves to have the water poured all over her. So fun!
This one was just cute:) Not really a first except that she got this new blanket from one of Kirk's clients and loves it! :)
She has started taking excursions out of the house, and I think I am enjoying that the most! I don't know how moms are expected to stay home for so long with a new baby- I am losing my mind being at home! I must be too ADD or something. We went to the Spectrum this last week, the mall, even out to lunch with some friends. It's great because Malia usually sleeps in her carrier and I can cover her up to prevent germs from getting to her.
She really is a good baby and we are so lucky and grateful to have her! We just love love love her to pieces!!!
That's it for now, but I am sure you will see another Malia post soon. I am kinda obsessed with our little peanut!
