Schillings take Hawaii 2013

Here are some photos to sum up our awesome trip to Hawaii!  We had a BLAST!!!  It was seriously one of the best trips we have ever taken and we even had a kid with us, ha!  Keely got to come since I am still nursing her, but we left Malia at home with my parents.  I was nervous to leave her since we hadn't left her for more than a night before, but surprisingly, it wasn't as bad as I thought!  My parents are so awesome and it just so happens that my mom is the best Nana in the world:)  8 days, 7 nights of total fun!
Keely did great on the trip and was such a great sport doing all of the fun adventures we wanted to do. We beached it, hiked, toured, visited friends and family, shopped, dined and basically just did everything we wanted!
We were able to visit my cousin Chrissy and her family which was so fun!  And Kirk's brother Steve and his family just happened to be there at the same time!  We were able to do all sorts of fun stuff with them- it was awesome!
We stayed on the north shore in this darling little house right across the street from Ted's bakery and right by the beach.  Needless to say, we ate lots of Ted's Haupia Chocolate pie and went to the beach all the time.  My old friend Tiffany lives there with her family so we spent a lot of time with them too.
Overall, it was one of those trips that left us saying, "let's move to Hawaii!"
I don't think we will be moving there anytime in the near future, but it is something that is always up for discussion in the Schilling household:)

Keely is ONE!!!!

KEELY IS ONE!!!!!!  I knew this day would come.  It's been a quick 1st year for our little Keely bear!  She is my angel and seriously, the best baby I could have ever asked for!

I'll have to download the rest of the "good" pictures from my "real" camera from her birthday party, but here is a glimpse of the birthday girl on her real birthday.  We did a Japanese "Sumo" themed party since Keely has been affectionately known as our little sumo baby.  Not only is she so Asian looking, but her white chubby rolls and love of food makes this nickname so appropriate:)
So about her party- everything was cute and we were so blessed to have so many friends and family join us for it, but this girl does NOT like a lot of attention.  She is so happy to get attention from small groups or one-on-one, but when you surround her with a large group of people looking and singing to her- she just gets mad!  This is her with her birthday cake.  Mad I tell you!  I feel bad that we must have hurt her feeling because she didn't want anything to do with us singing to her and when we presented her with her cake, she started hitting it and trying to push it off her tray.  Poor baby.  I'm sorry Keely!
My mom did such a fabulous job of making this cake (along with adorable cupcakes, teriyaki beef and rice)!  I am so lucky to have the best family that helped us set up and prepare her party!
 Us :)
And then you have a picture of a picture.  Oh geez I need to get better about taking pictures and not being so lazy with my phone!  But here's a photo of our 3 generation Japanese girls. xoxo
Here are some of the Stats for our Keely Yukiko:
24lbs (90%)
32 inches tall (99%)
and a whopper of a head, respectively:)
  • She is getting more and more hair everyday, and while it is lightening up some, I think it is going to be more brown than her blonde sister.
  • She is still not walking but able to pull herself up on just about everything
  • She is a fast crawler and loves playing "tag" and "chase" with us
  • Keely is my good eater.  She eats about 2-3 times more than Malia does in a day.  Her favorite foods include: green beans, broccoli, peaches, mangoes, turkey, peas, spaghetti (all time fav), cookies, homecooked foods, and yobaby yogurt.  She does NOT like milk, cheese, bananas (usually), peanut butter, or bottles.
  • Yes, Keely is still nursing away.  No bottles
  • Her favorite toys are her babies, balls, balloons, anything she can take apart and strings/ribbons.  Animals and especially Hobbs:)
  • 1 year old Keely just has her 2 bottom teeth:) Late bloomer!  And she is still chubby and rolly poly all over!
  • She LOVES music and LOVES moving and dancing to it.  And cute Keely has rhythm too!
  • She still takes 2 naps a day: 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon.  She usually sleeps through the night unless she is sick or teething (which has been a lot lately!)
  • Keely LOVES being outside!  Walks in her car or wagon are her favorite.  She always wants to pick a flower when we are walking and will hold it while we are out:)
  • Favorite places: the park, beach, nana's house, being in a shopping cart shopping or exploring someplace new.
  • Loves the water and taking her bochas and playing with other kids.
  • While she doesn't like too much attention all at once, she loves one on one time and getting lots of loves and cuddles.  She will just snuggle with me throughout the day.  I love it.  I'll stare at a pile of laundry or dishes and just hold her realizing that one day she won't want to snuggle me!
  • Keely loves to share and is obsessed with her big sister.  It doesn't matter how much she likes what she has, she will offer some to you.  And she lights up to see Malia.  Malia is such a good big sister but understandably gets irritated with her little sister sometimes, but both girls are (usually) so patient with each other.  It melts my heart to see them together.
  • 1 year old Keely is a ray of sunshine and such a sweet, mellow and easy girl.  I hope she never changes!
