Have we mentioned that 20 month Malia likes to pick out her outfits now?

Doesn't she look great folks?? Oh how we love this little spunky gal:)  And because having 2 kids now instead of 1 is proving to be HARDER THAN ANYTHING IN THE WORLD, I have opted to use this post as Malia's 20 month update also.  Malia, Malia.  This girl is certainly a confident, smart and opinionated girl.  She knows what she wants, will figure out a way to get it, and is wildly persuasive.  My favorite is when she says, "Oh mommy. I love you so much."  In perfect sentences.  How can you turn that down??
She is still crazy tall and we joke about how she looks like the chaperone when she plays with other kids her age.  She loves her friends.  Asks for them by name- "Mommy, I wanna play with Lola."  Or, "Forest and Daphne, go to the mall?"  She remembers names, new words, places and will not forget things that you wish she would.
This is her playing with her cousin Bentley who was down visiting.  She gravitates towards older kids since I think she thinks she's around 3 or so.  I really am not intending on bragging or saying "my kid is super intelligent" I just need to document for blogging purposes:)
This month:
  • Malia has another molar coming in! That will make her 5th molar.
  • She is not potty training but HAS gone in her special potty once.  Guess it wasn't ask exciting as she thought it would be.
  • She sleeps 11-12 hours at night with a nice 2 hour nap during the day.
  • She HAS to get out and do something every day or else she becomes a whiny mess.
    • She is still not a big eater.  Feeding her is one of my LEAST favorite things I have to do.  At least she does eat healthy when she eats though.  Favorites include string cheese (I swear she would starve if it wasn't for this), edamame, avocado, berries, chicken, carrots, goldfish, yogurt, tomatoes, quesadillas, pasta (sometimes), fruit snacks, and whatever else we can make look super enticing.  She is a good sport for trying new things which is good.
    • She is talking up a storm!!!!  Holy moly this month has brought on complete sentences which makes it easier for us to know what she is saying. She totally catches me off guard with things like, "mommy, I wanna go to the mall."  Or, "I need a snack." "play at the park with Forest and Daphne" "Oh that is so funny!" "I see a fire truck" "Naughty Hobbs, my food."  Things like that.  She is pretty articulate too and is easy to understand.  She still wants her darn binkie sometimes though so I'll ask her to take it out so I can understand her. I think her language is definitely her strong point.
    • That and puzzles! She LOVES puzzles!  She has always played around with the big chunky wood ones, but by accident discovered this 20 piece more difficult 5yr + puzzle one day.  Someone had given it to her and she found it in her closet.  I thought she would get really frustrated but surprisingly just concentrated so hard until she figured it out.  It took her a couple of days, but then she was able to do it all on her own!  My girlfriend Shannon who comes over to play with Malia sometimes said that she even had a hard time with that puzzle and Malia was able to help her;)  Sorry for the mini brag sesh, just so proud of my girl!
    • She can run and jump and likes to hang from the bars at the park now.
    • She is obsessed with trucks, trains, fire trucks, princesses, tutu dresses, dancing, singing, playing with her friends, making silly faces and noises, and any new "adventure."
    • Her favorite sayings are "sure!" "I love you sooo much!" "No! Mine!" (dislike that one) and "Mommy, I WANT that."  (another dislike there).
    • Speaking of being somewhat demanding, she is itching for my attention now so I will have to leave this post disorganized and incomplete.  We love you Malia Joy!  You are one funny girl!  And pretty as a button:)
And for your viewing pleasure before I go, here is a sleeply daddy and a newborn Keely.  Life is rocking over at the Schilling's! ;)

Happy 23rd Birthday Brookie!!

Another birthday in the family?! So fun! So glad Brookie was able to come home from BYU for her birthday weekend! It was a complete blast with a park picnic, cupcakes and a little ball playing.  Brooke happens to be the most amazing young woman i have ever known.  She is happy, loving, selfless, smart, righteous, insanely talented and my best friend and sis.  Love you little one!!

And of course the girls had fun:) Here is newborn Keely at 2 weeks old.. She's already gotten soooo much bigger! I need to do better at keeping up with these growing babies!

Kirk's Birthday! (came and went..)

How behind am I?!  It's already the middle of April and I need to catch up from February!  So, my sweet, awesome, amazing, hard working, and very handsome husband had his 33rd birthday and we were a little preoccupied this year.  I decided that since he was so marvelous at everything he did, I would give him something grand for his birthday, like a new baby:)  Keely was born the 16th and we got to come home on Kirk's birthday- the 18th. Oh happy day!  It goes without saying, but we didn't get to celebrate as fantastically as I would have liked to this year, but luckily Kirk didn't seem to care.
We did get to enjoy Kirk (and pretty much everyone in my family's) favorite meal of Butayaki- oh so ono!!!! Brooke was here for Keely's birth so that worked out great to have the whole family here to celebrate 2 special people!
Kirk's fav- chocolate and peanut butter.  So he got a chocolate peanut butter icecream cake.  Remember how you are always hungry when you are nursing? Oh you don't know?  Well I eat like a freakin hippo when I nurse and as soon as Keely came my appetite has been on full force!  Thank goodness breastfeeding burns like 2,000 calories or something.
This is our new family of 4!  I will look back at this picture and laugh.  We all look so beat.
It was really cute how Malia learned to blow out the candles.  In fact, Nana taught her the birthday song that day so she could help sing to her favorite person- her daddy:)  She is so much fun I can barely stand it!  I have so many updates about that little lady that I hope I can get to soon!
So happy birthday babe.  You are my better half and the reason I am who I am.  I love you more everyday.  You are the absolute best husband and father that anyone could have hoped for.  Thank you for all that you do for our little family.
Love, your wife:)
