The party was a success! We ate chicken croissants, homemade potato salad, fruit, salad cookies, cupcakes, and everything else appropriate for a party! We played games like Donut Eating Contests (for both kids AND the adults- it was hilarious!), Water Balloon Toss (which turned into a water balloon fight), the kids "went fishing" for party favors, and we mingled and played.
Here are some of the party goers that made Malia's 1st birthday so fun! Thanks for coming everyone!

And the rest of the pictures are of the party! It was a Polka Dot Theme Party with Pink, Yellow and Orange being Malia's colors. Thank you so much to everyone that came! We had almost 80 people there that day to help us celebrate the birth (day) of the most important thing to happen to our family:
MALIA JOY!!!!
And then of course we had the cake:) Kirk is the best husband and father in the universe and made Malia's cake special for her. They were beautiful in only a way Kirk could have made them. I think she loved them too- complete with palm trees and sprinkle sand at the beach:)
Malia thought the cake to be more of a toy or interesting spectacle than something to eat. She is a self proclaimed "healthy eater" and probably would have preferred some cheese or blueberries or eggs instead of sugary cake. I expected her to dig in like most sugar starved babies do, but not this girl, She gingerly picked the sprinkles then finally started playing in it:)
Her face was more concentration and trying to figure out this new sensation of frosting between her fingers. It was cute. Kirk had to feed her her first bite! She wouldn't take it!
This little girl has the funniest personality. She is a lot like my brother who isn't even here (serving his mission in Australia STILL). She is pensive and serious and studies things. She probably would have spent the day dissecting the cake piece by piece if we had the patience to let her.
"Well, it's okay I guess."
Happy Birthday sweetheart!!!! We sure love you Malia Joy! You have brought more life and love and sunshine to our lives than we could have ever imagined. I marvel at what you do and how you are growing every day. I love you more than words and am so happy to be your mommy.
xoxoxoxoxo forever and ever,
mom and daddy
