Malia's 1st Birthday Party!!!!!

It's hard to imagine that an entire YEAR has gone by being a parent!  Remember when I used to post things about vacations we took or parties we had or outings we had with friends.. Now this blog might as well be called "Malia's Spot." I am over a month overdue posting her birthday party pictures (We had the party ON her birthday, July 16th!) but I have been struggling with this morning (all day) sickness and can't seem to muster the energy.  Now that I am 12 weeks (almost done 1st trimester!!!) I am starting to feel a little bit better.  So I am going to overload this blog with 27 photos of Malia's special day and the fun we were able to enjoy:)
This is Nana.  What I would do without her I don't know.  She has been a LIFESAVER during these last yucky weeks.  And don't get me started on everything she did for the party!  Holy Cow!  She made cupcakes and cookies and decorated them better than any pro.  She cut up fruit, got games and prizes and help set up this whole shin dig.  Thank you mom/ Nana, you made Malia's day so perfect!!
The party was a success!  We ate chicken croissants, homemade potato salad, fruit, salad cookies, cupcakes, and everything else appropriate for a party!  We played games like Donut Eating Contests (for both kids AND the adults- it was hilarious!), Water Balloon Toss (which turned into a water balloon fight), the kids "went fishing" for party favors, and we mingled and played.

Here are some of the party goers that made Malia's 1st birthday so fun!  Thanks for coming everyone!
The adorable Tosh!

The Schillings that now live here!  Yeah for us!!! Malik, Jett, Kirk's brother- Sloan, Jurnie and Cara

The Amazing Richards Family and my Uncle Con and Stacy!
Malia's main squeeze, Roman:)
These lovely ladies!

The Kings and the deVilliers!  Love them!!

The ever cool Whites and Bulls (with friend!)
Jim and Kathy made the trip down for Malia's party and we felt so blessed to have them!  They are the greatest grandparents we could ever ask for!  They helped SO much that day with prepping for the party and helping poor, sick me get through the day.  I love you Jim and Kathy!!
The awesome and amazing Auntie Dawn!!
Bumpa and Uncle Con.  They are identical twins for any of you that don't know that:)
My twin for the day and super fun and wonderful, Aunt Stacy!
The Johanssons and the Facers came- so fun!!
And the rest of the pictures are of the party!  It was a Polka Dot Theme Party with Pink, Yellow and Orange being Malia's colors.   Thank you so much to everyone that came!  We had almost 80 people there that day to help us celebrate the birth (day) of the most important thing to happen to our family:
MALIA JOY!!!!

And then of course we had the cake:)  Kirk is the best husband and father in the universe and made Malia's cake special for her.  They were beautiful in only a way Kirk could have made them.  I think she loved them too- complete with palm trees and sprinkle sand at the beach:)

Malia thought the cake to be more of a toy or interesting spectacle than something to eat.  She is a self proclaimed "healthy eater" and probably would have preferred some cheese or blueberries or eggs instead of sugary cake.  I expected her to dig in like most sugar starved babies do, but not this girl,  She gingerly picked the sprinkles then finally started playing in it:)
Her face was more concentration and trying to figure out this new sensation of frosting between her fingers.  It was cute.  Kirk had to feed her her first bite!  She wouldn't take it!
This little girl has the funniest personality.  She is a lot like my brother who isn't even here (serving his mission in Australia STILL).  She is pensive and serious and studies things.  She probably would have spent the day dissecting the cake piece by piece if we had the patience to let her.
 "Well, it's okay I guess."
Happy Birthday sweetheart!!!! We sure love you Malia Joy!  You have brought more life and love and sunshine to our lives than we could have ever imagined.  I marvel at what you do and how you are growing every day.  I love you more than words and am so happy to be your mommy.
xoxoxoxoxo forever and ever,
mom and daddy
